I've never used anything else, and have never really seen any problem.

Plus.... Nobody ever told ME I was going to stay perfectly dry if I went camping.

Shug~ thanks for the video as always.
That's what I am talking about. If you fly the AMOK tarp down low, and get a good "tug-out" on the footer point, you can stay as dry as any other tarp.
And, I too, almost always boost that guy with a stick or pole even if the others are direct-to-dirt.

It were blowing around down right fair at the Harold Hang a couple of years ago, and I was fine.

Iceiceguy and any others interested, if you go to my profile/gallery, I have several photos of the Amok and the WB GT tarp. That has worked for me in rain and snow. It closes up nice with the doors. I have since gotten the Hammocktent 90 Degree hammock, and will likely get a custom made, wider tarp with doors. But I do like my GT.

The Superfly is 11' x 10', so 5' wide each side

    ~

My SLD Winter Haven tarp gave about as good of coverage as you will probably find in a hammock tarp. My WH has 13' ridgeline and is the extra wide fabric.

Yep, there is an Amok Draumr inside there:

On the inside (and this is w/o pole mods!):
