    Howdy All From TX

    Hello all,

I am just getting into hammock camping still trying to figure out if I want to buy or make one. Leaning to building one after watching Jellyfish's excellent videos. My oldest son is in Boy Scouts and my next son will move over from Cub Scounts next year so I have a lot of camping still ahead. My last trip I was taking down my tent and was remembering another dad that had a hammock on another trip and he was done packing so fast. I want that going forward Still checking out some designs and keeping an eye out for good deals. There is so much information on here, I look forward to interacting with y'all.

    Thanks,
    30 Degrees

Hello and welcome from Northern Arkansas! DIY is great if you have the skills! You can also get some relatively cheap and quality hammocks from Dutchware Gear, Dream Hammock, Simply Light Designs, and our other quality cottage vendors! Best of luck!

Howdy and welcome to the trees!

There are quite a few North Texas Hangers and at least a few I know of from Frisco. The good news it there are still a few spare trees.

Hello and welcome from Marietta GA. If you have a sewing machine and some basic skills, I definitely recommend you making your own gear as much as possible. Remember bells and whistles are nice, but there's something to be said for something simple you made yourself. Good luck and happy hanging!

Welcome 30°. Hammocks are the way to go especially if you want to wake up ready to go. Let us know if you have any questions and keep an eye on that for sale forum for some good deals.

I "second" rhjanes recommendation to buy "The Ultimate Hang 2". That book (1st Edition) answered so many questions and the illustrations are superb. Since you are just getting into hammock camping that book will serve you very well, AND be of immense interest to both of your sons. Welcome to the forum, and enjoy camping with your sons from an elevated perspective!

If 200 miles isn't too far there's a Meetup April 9 in Georgetown.
