Has anyone used their hammock at a music festival?
I'm thinking about taking my hammock to a week long festival during the solar eclipse. Not sure if its a good idea or not.

Depends on the genre I would think. We have been to SoulFest at Gunstock Mtn in NH a couple times and so long as the promoters don't care, it would totally be cool to hang beside the ski slope. But that is a Christian music festival, so the atmosphere is a lot different than some rock festivals. Even when hard rock bands play, Like Skillet and Thousand Foot Krutch, people are typically decent folk, so you don't worry about theft and such.

Provided that there are no specific rules being violated, hammock camping is awesome at a music festival, especially when all the other campers are competing for flat ground space.
Granted, camping in general at a festival comes with inherent risks, like privacy, safety, and theft. However, if you chose your location wisely, especially if surrounded by good community, then those risks can be significantly reduced. I've also been known to take a beater tent to use under my hammock tarp just for more private gear storage or that rare occasion when someone wants to snuggle. ;-)

Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
So yeh, to get this back on track so it does not get deleted because of my initial example and the persuant conversation thereafter, it very much depends on the rules and regs of the festival promoters, as well as the general environment and atmosphere at the festival. Some musical genre draw a mellower more respectful crowd than others. If it is ok to hang, just make sure, like Shug noted, you have some way to securely store gear. So you may repeat his often quoted words, "All Secure in Sector 7"
