Greetings. I'm sharing a new underquilt design i recently prototyped. It's a game changer for me.

Instead of hanging the quilt with a shock cord loop, it suspends via elastic hammock "clews". This changes the quilt dynamics with the following benefits:

  • 100% snug up against you, everywhere, all the time. Absolutely no gaps or air pockets.
  • Takes the same shape your hammock does, so no squeeze.
  • Hangs the same way every time.
  • Lighter design.
  • Works with any hammock.
  • You can retrofit any existing underquilt with clews.

This design was inspired by my Brazilian hammock and assisted by Derek Hansen's WWII navy hammock tutorial at The Ultimate Hang.

If you try this design or any variant thereof, please post your experience with it.

Thanks.
