I figured the higher elevations would be spectacular. I will have to get in a good hike up there soon to see the colors.

Good news, if we do need to we can grab water at the restroom at the trail head

My wife reminded me that I have a prior engagement that Friday so I will most likely be coming up Saturday morning.

One night or two, everyone is welcome.
I'm thinking of doing a simple overnight this Sat/Sun. Supposed to be cool and clear. Good for a 'dry run' as we have had no rain in ages! Welcome to the drought.

Just did an overnight at Judge Branch. Apparently there was a cub scout troop there (1st come/1st serve so we need someone there early on Fri) and 2 guys not with them already at the site. The way it was laid out they welcomed my hammock. Technically it has a 12 person limit. Knowing Dianne for the last few years I was given the option of 'best judgement.' It worked out nicely.
Good news, there are 3 small waterholes in the otherwise dry creek so water is not an issue. Firewood is reasonably plentiful and still allowed in the area. Even with the scouts the owls and dinner, err, mice were out. Nothing touched my pack but it was easy to hear them.
Bit brisk dipping into the upper 30s but clear skies, lots of stars and the leaves are beginning to turn. Should be a good trip!

No worries on mice. Plenty of short squeals followed by flapping wings and happy owls.
