There are two kinds of people in the world: those who say there are two kinds of people, and all the others.
Beautiful area. Did a 4 day trip a few years ago. Tons of hanging opportunities.

Hanging is possible just about everywhere, even at the campsite on top of Pharaoh Mtn.
Trip report here on HF.

Yes, lots. You can hang near the leantos (not in them), at the designated campsites or you can stealth camp as long as you are at least 150 ft. from a trail or body of water. If you are thinking of doing that, make sure you are familiar with the NYDEC regs. There are two major trails - the Short Swing and the Long Swing. Short swing takes you on a tour of the small ponds in the northern part of the wilderness. Long swing trail takes you down to Pharaoh Lake. You can also get to Pharaoh Lake and some of the smaller nearby ponds from the south. You can also park at the Putnam Pond campground and go in from there or park at the Crane Pond Road trailhead and walk in from there. If you have high clearance 4WD, you can drive further up the road (sometimes all the way to Crane Pond). Look on YouTube, there are a lot of videos.
