Hello Everyone,
I have been an avid reader of everyone's insight here for awhile and took the plunge on getting a hammock. After a decent amount of research I decided on the Eno CamoNest XL with MalloMe 12 foot loop straps. I know that the Eno is considered a gateway drug hammock till you upgrade to something like a WB but I was not even sure that I would get into the whole scene. A buddy of mine and I are completing the entire Susquehanna River on the East Coast. It is 444 miles long. So far we have tent camped either on islands that were primitive or actual DCNR campsites. Due to the middle section from NY down there is very little tent places. The hammock makes it a breeze to set up on the shallow banks and smaller islands the tent could not work on. So enough about me in that regard, I have several questions and if they have been answered or addressed other areas I apologize.
-If I wanted a removable Ridgeline (with carabiners) which cord to use? I hear about AmSteel and others... anything but para cord because it stretches, right? What are the top cords for this?
- I don't have a bug-net yet. I was thinking of soaking my clothes in Permethrin. I will probably break down and buy one but are there any cheaper alternatives?
-Tarps... I was thinking of starting with a Harbor Fright camo tarp because if it gets messed up on this trip and others its 8 bucks. Thoughts?
Any advice would be much appreciated. Please note I know I can replace mostly everything from carabiners to cord and get whoopie slings and all of that. I would like to use the current system I have and adapt from there to start. So Thanks!!!!
