I use the inflatable travel pillow from WM inflated halfway. It is worn on my left shoulder. When on my back and very little pillow is needed one leg is under my neck. When I roll to my left side the center is under my head. The cover is washable. I'm on my 3rd and 4th ones now but they are cheap and easily replaced. 4 oz.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

i use an old stuff pillow from my scouting days. it is only 6 inches by 15inches works well for cold weather to keep my bald head warm. on warmer trips I dont need it as much. I have flipped it over one side is nylon and one is flannel. My almost tween daughter does need or what a pilllow in the hammock. though

Nemo Fillo for the win! I've always needed a pillow...usually two in a regular bed, only one small one in the hammock. Found this at Backwoods, and have used it exclusively ever since.

Perfect size to cradle my head. Airs up and down easily and cheap.
I use this as well -- just the right thickness for me, and it packs up to almost nothing. The other nice think about this neck pillow is that it doesn't get lost when I move around in the hammock.

I have a small self-inflating sit pad that I use as a pillow when it comes time to sleep. It isn't very thick and doesn't provide much cushion. I think having something under my head more just a mental thing and matter of habbit.

I have a shorter hammock 9.5 feet and i've found i'll wake up in the night with some knee pain, i've heard that its due to over-extension? and that putting a pillow under my knees might help? can anyone confirm this or tell me where im going wrong?

I am a side sleeper, and need a pillow to align my neck with my spine. I started off with a Thermo Rest pillow, small size, but it was too thick. Ripped a seam and removed about half the filling (foam chunks cut from TR mattresses) and now it is perfect!

I tried inflatable pillows but found them to be rather sweaty on humid nights.

I use a full size feather pillow when car camping and a slumber jack when hiking. Just can't sleep without one or the other.

I usually use a small U shaped travel pillow, or a thin down pillow from home if camping with my car around. Also will occasionally use pillow under my knees as well.
