A two part query:
a.
- With my first underquilt UQ I didn't cut the shell differentially for the width aspect of the quilt. 48" x 60" for both inner & outer shells.
- I plan another underquilt 46" x 60" for the inner shell and 50" x 60" for the outer shell, as I assume greater efficiency from less compression.
- I would like read how you would cut the Climashield Apex 6.0 I will use. Same as inner or outer shell or somewhere in between? My inclination: outer shell
b.
- I sewed a channel along the long sides (as well as the short sides) of the first underquilt--does it do anything more than a grosgrain loop at each corner for attachment to the UQ suspension? Maybe a cord in the channel distributes the "load" over the entire length of the underquilt--if very much load even occurs there, but then that allows the UQ to scrunch to less than the full unsuspended length (to as little as 43", down from an ideal 58"). Your opinions would interest me. My suspension of choice includes shock cord from the corners at each end running through a prusik near the end of the ridgeline and attaching to a prusik closer to the middle of the ridgeline. Thanks, everyone!
