New Girl! Seriously... just bought my first hammock.

My husband is hiking and making a documentary about another thru-hiker on the Appalachian Trail. And since the AT is a looooooong way from Spokane, WA the kids and I are kind of tagging along. It's an interesting life that's for sure! You can see more about our trip on my blog The Peasant Housewife

But really why I'm here is that at Trail Days this year I got me a brand spanking new Deep Jungle XL. Seriously, I'm way excited about this thing. We got the XL so that my 6'5" husband could also use it if he wants to. I plan on doing a section of the AT the first week of July and he will stay with the kids. I did NOT want to sleep on the ground but I was willing to do it for the section. My husband does it week after week... it couldn't be that bad.

Ha. That's why God invented hammocks. Now I'm REALLY looking forward to my section!

And yes, I have put it up a few times. And took a nap in it. Way awesome!

After my wife tried my hammock, she asked for her own. This was a few years ago. Not sure if we've slept in a tent since! LOL

    Welcome to HF, from Nashville!

    Welcome to the Fold.

I had one of the original Hennessey Hammocks (back when they were yellow and blue) and I gave it to my neice who was going to El Salvadore with the Peace Corps. She used it heavily, as EVERYONE in the rural villages sleeps in hammocks. Even the babies. She donated it to the family she stayed with, so I hope it is still in use.

May you and your husband get many nights of good sleep from yours.

So you're the smart one in the family! You buy a hammock while your unsuspecting hubby is sleeping on the ground. Good one!!!

Greetings new hagger..........for me it is a better night sleep......better than the sleep# bed at home that cost out the ____.
I feel much better in the morning and I do not need to worry about the stones and sticks under me ...like in a tent...
