    Seneca Creek WV

The plan was for my wife and I to meet my friend from NY on the thursday before Easter at Spruce Knob WV. That actually happened however by buddy was running late and thru a comedy of errors we didn't get on the trail til maybe 18:30. This late start and our need to make an early departure on Easter Sunday led us to change our plans to hike on the Seneca Creek trail.

    View from Spruce Knob

So we couldn't have hiked in 20 min before we declared that we had gone far enough (it had been a long day). We were practically camped on the trail but we really didn't care, we set up the hammocks had a tiny fire to heat some water etc and went to be.

    First camp in the morning.

After sleeping in a bit and much lounging, we got on the trail around noon! I hadn't seen my friend from NY in a year so we do more visiting than hiking, and thats fine by me. We hiked down to Judy Springs and set up shop down there. We would end up staying two nights there and just doing a day hike and exploring the local area from there.

    View from the hammock.

View back at the hammock from small island.

We were camped two nights right next to this!

I did manage to fall into the river while rock hopping to the island and couldn't catch my fall b/c my hands were full of camera equip. so just had to fall and sit there til I could find a place to put the gear. Both the camera and I came out without a scratch, could have been worse...didn't even get too wet.

This is the outflow from Judy Springs.

Went for a day hike up into one of the near by meadows. The meadow was more striking in person than this photo would suggest.

    Last night at camp.

Got up Easter Sunday and hiked the three miles back to the car. We really didn't cover a lot of ground but what we did see was beautiful and the company was excellent, plus we have an excuse to go back and see more.
    Good luck,

Always good to see another camping dog. Really like the slower shutter speed of your creek shots. Great pics, thanks for sharing the adventure.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

Thanks 2ply. That's my buddy's dog, she's a good trail dog, well mannered and laid back. The bad news is, that now my wife wants one!

Short or long hike, doesn't really matter....it's great to be out there either way.
I have a soft spot for hanging by the banks of a stream......must be the soothing sounds of tumbling waters.
Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

Yeah, that spot the water was more of a roar than a babble, but it knocked me out in seconds. I love sleeping next to streams.
