    Spray Painting Mule Tape?

I like everything about polyester mule tape for tree huggers except the color.

I used up some flat camo black and green spray paint on them. Will it work?

I would think you could dye it. Might rub off though. Lmk what ends up working. I have unlimited supply from work I might have to snag some up and try coloringbit

I think mule tape was originally lubed for pulling cable. I wouldn't expect very good results from spray paint.

Boil the Mule Tape in a de-greasing agent first. you can use Palm Olive dish soap. Then dye the tape using a dispurse type dye. Easy...

Well, it didn't turn out half bad. Yes, quite a bit of paint rubbed off on my hands and then on a rag. In the end, though, the spray paint dirtied them up enough to blend in with the woods.

But disperse dye is cheap and would probably give a much better result.

Keep in mind that the dye or paint may get on other gear. I'd avoid the paint. Not sure if it would effect the straps or not, and it wouldnt be good if it did melt them.
Or stain your hands when wet in the field.

Yes, the experiment is not over. I can see how their getting wet might be a factor. It seems stable now, though.

    LOL

    I hope not!

    Then there's this stuff: http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/...-paint-869818/

I'll try it on another set of long ones that I want to rig with descender rings.
