HI!
I spent a lot of time on the forum last year, deciding first to hang, and then to buy an NX-250. An expensive first hammock, but exactly what I wanted. I'm not much of a poster, but enjoy reading the entries.
Thanks to all who post here. I love my hammock, wish it were a bit lighter, but it is the foundation of my gear for my 2014 AT thru hike.
There is a learning curve for all new things. I have used you as mentors, read the reviews, the how-to's, watched many videos (thanks Shug!), and I am confident going forward.
My observations: my butt gets cold below 50 degrees. Sorry Clark. A thin piece of foam or air mattress are needed for me below that; I use a top quilt, so my butt is on the hammock.
I love the pockets. I store the contents of my pack here each night, off the ground, and get "some" insulation.
I like the new poles. I had issues with the old ones. I'm considering taking and extra set, just in case, as I have not used the new ones. Any thoughts?
I'm starting March 25th, with my new trail name of Curious George. Check out Whiteblaze for how I set myself up for that... Anyhow, my crew (4 grandkids!) think the name is great.
Happy New Year!
