I am new to hammocking, and am in no way prepared for a winter trip.....But I might drop in to see your set-ups if I am back from the U.P. in time....Tom, Bay City.
How about a hike to the end of Ridge Trail, then head NORTH towards Nordhouse Dunes area.
Hike a few hours, stop and make lunch in a Jack Pine swail in the Wilderness, then head back.
I did that this summer. Started at the Lighthouse, and went all the way to Nordhouse via topo map and compass.
(I deer hunted this area, both the SP and the Federal land to the NORTH, for 6 years. Best hunting was around Eagles Nest Hill. In 1988, it four of us 6 hours to drag my 170 class 8-point Whitetail from there back to Beechwood Campground. Got back to camp at 10pm.)
Once you're in the dunes, there's typically not much snow to speak of really, so it should be pretty good going.
Great views of the lake, too.
We can wave at the barges...???
I've gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, make sure I stay here.
When I see lovers' names carved into a tree, I don't think it's cute. I think it's strange how so many people take knives on a date.

Funny. Every Year I Go Up To That Exact Location Two Days Prior To Opening Day And Find The "Perfect tree". I carve Non Stop For Those Two Days Until The Perfectly Balanced 300 Yd Range Spear Is Born And Then I Hunt. Ive Taken A 20 Pt Every Year Since 1947 Out Of that Location. I Leave The Little ones.

What about a white elephant gear gift exchange or a gear raffle? I'm sure we all have some gear weather it's big or small lying around that we don't use or can afford to part with.
I also like the idea of doing a night hike with out head lamps using the moon's light to navigate thru the woods mainly for fun. I have never done this before have you?
Bring the head lamps for sure but just keep them off your eyes will adjust to the darkness after time...
Mr. Pink is in. We've put in the order for wood you all want to steal an make tables out of...
