    Quick question about suspensions

I've decided that for my first hammock im going to buy the WBBB XLC 1.7 double. I know that on the Warbonnet website you have a choice of either Line/Strap suspension or adjustable webbing suspension. Im leaning heavily towards the adjustable webbing suspension but because of the fact this being my first hammock im not sure which is better.

Ive seen alot of videos from Shug and other hammock users and ive noticed alot of people mention using Whoopie slings with their WBBB. Is that the line/strap suspension option? If not, Could you use Whoopie slings with a adjustable webbing suspension?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want to get this thing on order soon so i can get it and start hanging in the yard..lol

Personally, for your first hammock I would stick with the webbing, it is just so simple. You will end up playing with whoopies at some stage, but the webbing will get you out there and enjoying it with very little stress.

Whoopie sling suspension is a different type than the line and strap option offered from Warbonnet. Choose the cinch buckle suspension. It's just easier to adjust IMO.

Pretty much everyone here uses webbing as part of their suspension. It's use for direct tree contact because it helps spread out the force on the bark vs. a thin rope.

A whoopie sling set up is made up of both a whoopie sling and a length of webbing. The length of webbing is a personal choice and is dependent on the size of trees but a 6 foot whoopie sling with 6 feet of webbing is commonly used.

Here is Warbonnet's suspension video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8MvlQBthZU ...you can find all of their videos under the Hammocking Info/Setup tab on the website.

I agree the webbing/cinch buckle setup is a great way to start.

another vote for webbing. Keeps things simple.
I would consider switching to whoopies if that bit of weight matters to you.

Whoopie slings are lighter than webbing and buckles.

Other than that, I cannot see any big advantage, and I have tried them on my Clark.

    1. Webbing/buckles make fine adjustments so easy.
    2. Webbing/buckles with carabiners or Dutch clips usually eliminate the need for tree straps.
    3. Webbing/buckles allow you to use trees that are too close together for whoopie slings.
    4. Since you don't normally need tree straps with webbing/buckles there is no chance that you will forget them when breaking camp. (Happened at MAHHA in Watoga SP).

IMO. too many advantages over whoopies. But a great campfire debate.

    Quick question about suspensions

Another vote for adj webbing. Being a noob like myself it's easy so you can focus on setting things up right and rigging your tarp

I see it as another personal choice. For me, I like staring at my pretty toggles…..and milking my bury.

Hey! I don't think you're supposed to talk about milking your berries on a family forum.

    Oops...I read it wrong...nevermind.
