    New Custom Length Incubator 0˚

Ordered a new quilt during the Labor Day sale - I have a 0˚ Crowsnest, but I wanted something a touch longer. I tend to get cold feet, and to be honest with the Argon this new quilt only weighs an ounce or so more than my Crowsnest, even with an ounce of overfill. Called up Adam, and we decided on 68" ... a Phincubator, if you will. I wanted it to start at my neck, and cover my feet. I always have either a down hat, or a pillow, or both - so coverage at the neck is just wasted weight.

My gods is the new Argon Brown sexy. Aside from the fact that it's ridiculously soft, it's so thin that you can just barely see the down through it, which gives it a really cool mottled look.

I'll have to report back once I get a chance to get it out in the woods. But for now, here are a bunch of pictures of it set up in the back yard. Had my wife get in so I could take pictures of it in use. My little guy even climbed in and hung out for a while.

Thanks, Adam & Jen. Another amazing quilt of yours to add to my collection!

Edit: Forgot to add the specs

It really is. Now I just can't wait for some nice, cold weather, so I can run it through the paces.

Well, I couldn't let her have all the fun. So the first pic taken was of me in it. I was trying to get her to take pics of me in it, and she just told me to let her get in, and take them myself. So I had her get in, so I could take all the fun shots showing the sections of the quilt the way I wanted to.

I think it might have been just a ploy so she could lie down and relax ...

    Nope. It's 68" - a full 10 inches shorter than standard length.

Basically it combines elements of both the Incubator and the Phoenix. The Incubator is a full length, full coverage quilt, and covers you from head to toe. The Phoenix is geared more towards backpacking, and you give up coverage at the head (it covers your shoulders but no more) and the feet (it comes to mid thigh on most people). This saves you some weight, but assumes that you're going to have some sort of pillow or other insulation (a wadded up jacket, etc) that you can put behind your head, and either a small pad or something else under your legs and feet.

This quilt only compromises on one side - the head end. It still covers my feet, but it only comes to my neck and shoulders, rather than covering my whole head. I save myself the weight of 10 inches of quilt, but still have plenty of coverage to keep my feet warm.

I found the "Phincubator" to be the ideal length also.

I'm 5'11 and sleep with slightly bent knees anyway so i get pretty much full coverage. Its rated to 20 degrees so i would normally be wearing a down hat/ hood.
Im still working on the dual suspension. Not loving it. I cut the shock cord on one line and made 4 attachment points to tie to my hammock. Works pretty good now.
