Enjoyable read, conveyed the grinding through what some call adversity and to be rewarded with the soul replenishing peace of the mountains.
The joy of human interaction, not too much, just enough along with the kindess and generosity of stranges that share the common bond of The Trail.

Yosef... Thanks for sharing. I have hiked this section many times and always enjoyed the views and the cool, clean air on top of the balds. Vandeveter shelter has great views of Watauga lake on clear days. Sorry to hear you missed it. Happy trails to you.
