Lightning in a TD or TL stand???

What does everybody do when your in a severe lightning/thunderstorm while using your Tutledog/TurtleLady stands? I have 2 of the Surplus Army 4' section tripod stands made for car camping. The tripods are fiberglass, but the center 16' horizontal poles are aluminum and was just curious. Do you bail in a thunderstorm while rigged up sleeping in one of these? or do you ride out the storm?

Haven't been faced with that yet. My stand is all aluminum. Not sure what I would do. Don't like lightening.

Metal or not usually makes little difference in the world of lightning. The voltage is so high that even insulators like wood and air get turned into conductors.

Prior to hammocks,,I,,,,we all used tents,,that have aluminum tent poles,,and I personally just never left the tent in a severe storm,,just rode it out..but was curious, as to how many that use this stand,,will leave the hammock in a storm. Also,,I ride the storm out in a hammock hung to the trees,,no sense in getting out as when in the woods,,where you going? Personally, the hammock and under the tarp is the shelter I have, and so I use it so.

I have bailed in lightning but only because there weren't many trees around an mine were the biggest of what there was.

That being said, unless you have your stand set up in a field, it won't make a difference as lighting is far, far, far more likely to hit something tall.
