Thought I would introduce myself ( after 2 years of gleaning) I saw a couple youtube videos of Shug's, caught the bug and landed here.
I entertained owning a hammock 2 years ago and last fall I started getting my gear together in preparation to evolve from a ground dweller. I made my suspension and tie-outs from awesome DYI instructions from Hammock Forum ( best resource you could ask for, thank you ) I even configured a 2 hammock 1 tarp setup for my wife and I that works great.
So far my experience is limited to a few hangs in State parks and camp grounds ( with 1 rainy night ) trying to iron out my gear. (baby steps)
My best learned lesson has been, don't use cheap nylon straps as tree huggers or you will receive a rude awakening ( literally ) "However it will offer great entertainment for you family and onlookers!"
At my age I never thought newbie would best describe me, but it does. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!
HF is the best. Thanks to Shug for the laughs and information, thanks to Kat at Mountain Goat for the awesome tarpskins and thanks to Brandon for my Superfly Tarp ( a dry backside is always good)
Great posts from all.
