Winter Bug Net?

I've got 2 projects brewing. A winter sock and a detachable bug net.

I want to put some mesh into my winter sock to prevent condensation but, as I'm planning it, it's beginning to resemble a bug net.

I'm wondering if the bug net alone will do the job of adding warmth in winter and keeping insects off in summer.

Any thoughts?

While I do feel the bug net on my WBBB provides a little "wind breaker" in the winter, I'm not sure it would be near as warm as a sock. The sock completely stops the wind, preventing any air motion. I think that would certainly be warmer. Of course, then you have condensation to deal with.

I think the bug net on my WBBB definitely adds a few degrees of warmth. I notice it mostly during the heat of the summer. It does not stop cold winter breezes.

Last weekend I spent one night in the WBBB with only the bug net. I had condensation on the netting. The next three nights I used my canvas winter sock (the low was 21 degrees) and had no sign of condensation. The canvas sock blocked all wind and added about 15 degrees to the interior temp.

I notice in the Summer if there is not a breeze, my bug netted hammock is stifling. Definately holds in the heat, icky. With a breeze no heat held in, that is my experience.

I looked into this last winter and found these simple window sheers were very warm for winter use (held in way too much warm for summer use). I made/used a HUG bugnet out of them for winter use with my shoulders and down sock/pod.

P.S. These show out of stock, but just check your local wal-mart for window dressings. Get black - I used a tan color and it was hard to see through.
