Exped Scout Combi Tarp LineLoc type thing

So I just bought a Exped Scout Hammock Combi and just tried to pitch it out in the yard today. I have a question about the devices on the Guylines attached to the tarps. On the side closest to the tarp there are lineloc 3 devices but on the end of the guyline there is something I'm not quite sure how to use.

Anyone know what these are and how to use it? The device in question is the one I'm holding in my fingers in the foreground.

I've never seen one before in my life, but my guess is that you slip the cord over the ears and slide it to the desired tensioning point. Since the cord attached to it will be pulling at a 90* angle it should cause the device to "kink" on the line running through the middle and lock. That is pure speculation though.

Humm your finger is blocking were the cord tied to it goes in the picture.. that might tell more. For example if it is end of the line, maybe for a stake to go through to protect the cord... or if part way maybe a spot for a line to run through for a 2 lines to one stake setup...

It is attached to end of the guy line. I assumed it was for attaching back to the guy line after looping around a stake. I didn't seem to get a good kink when I tried it. I'll have to try again but it was slipping when I tried by just running the cord through.

Also the "ears" of the device don't create a large enough hole for a stake... It's a little bigger than the diameter of the cord.

I'm pretty sure that's designed to go around a shepherd's hook stake. The two hooks curving towards your finger in that photo go around the stake, preventing the line from binding (via friction) to the stake. Makes it easy to pack up in the morning, and doesn't require any line tying during set-up. At least, that's what it looks like.

Good question and we are actually working on getting a product video in place for this item. You'll want to wrap the cord around the anchor point, take the hook and lock it back onto the cord. The cord can then be tensioned via the line lock. This eliminates the need for knots. Hopefully this makes sense. Please do let me know if you have any other questions.
