False Cape State Park - Virginia

    HFers,

Have any of you ever camped in False Cape State Park near Virginia Beach? I understand that there are bay-side and ocean-side camp sites but I'm wondering if they are treed enough to hammock.

Some friends and I are planning a September hike/camp there over a weekend so I'd love to hear your experiences if you've been.

I was searching something else and THIS came up. Hope it helps.

Maybe Jon is a member here and will chime in. Good luck!

Thanks for link. From what I can tell, its just a matter of how close to the water you want to be. Some of the ocean-side campsites are on open sand, others are closer to the edge of the woods.

I will ask the park rangers some questions when I call to make a reservation and post back here in case anyone else is interested in the park - its a very unique location.

I know this is four years old, but I'm thinking of hiking/camping False Cape with some buddies next month and am trying to figure out if hammock camping is viable here, too. So. I am interested to hear about your experience.

    Thanks!
