I got the idea from MedicineMan at Sgt. Rock's UL rendevous last month, so I made a Momentum 90T Hammock. I started out with 11' of fabric that was about 58.5" wide, ordering the fabric from thru-hiker.com at a cost of $9.95/yd, plus ordered the guterman thread off backwoodsdaydreamer.com . 7/64 whoopies & Dutch Quilt Hooks off Dutch, and RL off whoopies.com . I don't sew so I took this to a fabric shop and had the girls there sew it for me, giving me a 1/2 rolled hem down the sides and 1" rolled hem across the ends. I also put Knotty's Mod's on the head and foot box of this hammock also to take up alittle slack on the sides. Finished hammock ended up 56 3/4" x 10'4" long. The finished hammock weight came in at 6.6 ozs...not bad at all. After rigging the hammock up with everything in the pics,,including 6' tree slings, 2 - 4' long 1/8 amsteel extensions with loops, and 2 nano 23 Biners ,total pack weight with a Zpacks hammock bag of Zpacks cuben fiber came in at 15.5 oz. My total weight for packing a 11" Snipe by Wilderness Logics was 25.5 ozs so my weight savings was 10 ozs total for this project. BUT! The feel of laying on Momentum 90T is TOTALLY AWESOME! OMG! What a feeling this fabric gives you,,granted its a dash stretchy,,but once you have your whoopies dialed in there is absolutely no stretch, no shoulder squeeze, and a super flat lay along with an absolutely totally different feel of laying in a hammock. I have layed in a Grand Trunks Skeeter Beater Pro, Standard GT hammock, UL GT Hammock, Warbonet 1.7 Travel, and the Snipe,,with the best of all of those I own,,the Snipe hands down till this hammock. I will sleep in it tonite and let you know how I fared,,but this, I know is going to be my, "go to" Hammock. Here are some pics and I hope they show alittle of how I rigged it and how it lays. Laying in this hammock is unlike anything I have ever laid in and the feel is absolutely awesome!
