Since both UQ's are of the highest quality and will exceed the temps they are rated for.
I would base my decision on how big are you and how much tossing and turning you do in the hammock.
If you have wide shoulders and toss and turn a lot I think the HG is a better choice do to it's size.
I am 5'9" 185# I use a HG phoenix and would not want anything smaller.

I would also like to recommend no matter which quilt you buy get extra down. It's pretty darn cheap
    and well worth it IMO.

Plus one on that ... I'm partial to HG but you really can't go wrong with either for customer service, quality and dependability. Not a lot of business out there in the world you can say that about. We're really lucky with the cottage industries we have on this Forum.

Thank you for all the help. I had hoped to avoid any negative remarks about either UQ as everything I have researched has been amazing with regard to both companies product, and as I should have expected we accomplished that. I feel very good about my decision now that I know the things to take into consideration when purchasing your first UQ!!! Thanks guys.

    Man I love this forum.....

Well Which one did you decide on?

Any ways. I've always gone with Hammock Gear because I personally do not mind carrying a bit of extra weight for the extra added coverage.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I am going to be going with HG for an UQ but I have a WB hammock and tarp. No real reason, I just hear lots of great things about HG and I had a great conversation with Adam, who was very helpful and informative.

    So, what did you choose?

I just wanted to add my $.02 on the Warbonnet baffle thing.

I have a WB UQ, and there is not a single baffle in it! So what do Y'all say about that, eh? Dad Gum quilt with no baffles!

It does, however, have very effective draft tubes. Oh, also, it has no down, only removable layers of Climashield. So, OK then, I guess technically, it does not need baffles. Point is still valid: it has no baffles! Oh, also, it is an unbelievably warm sucker. By warm I mean: your back spontaneously combusts if ambient temps are above 20F.

Also, it is the exact same dimensions as the down Yeti. I find it to cover all that is needed, with the leg pad and pillow getting the rest when needed.

PS: I love this UQ, in case I was not clear on that.

..... are you guys talking about baffles or being differentially cut?...

I'm having a hard time imagining keeping down in place without baffles. I could see if it's not differentially cut then you might be squishing some insulation, but I don't think I've heard of a down UQ with no baffles. Pics Bob?

I think the discussion about baffles was whether or not they are sewn thru, or true baffles.

From a thread I started topside and should have put here in the bottom insulation forum:

Whatever you do, get all the insulation you will need for this smaller quilt UNDERNEATH. With that foundation, it is my assertion that you will more than recover the extra bulk and weight by needing less top quilt /blanket than you thought. You may even do comfortably without one.

That translates to urging that a 20F rated down- fill bottom quilt is to be greatly preferred over a down-fill 40F rated alternative.

My enthusiasm extends to saying that sleeping in an adequately under-quilted hammock is so comfortable, it greatly extends the camping season. It is just no test of any kind to get great rest outside when it is below freezing.....so long as you have a scraper to remove frost and ice from the windshield of the car you've taken to do it.
