    SHT conditions

I have a 4 days off this coming weekend and was thinking about taking my pulk up to the SHT. How much snow, if any, is there on the trail? Enough to pull a pulk? Enough to snowshoe? Considering its been getting into the 40s and 50s every day here in Iowa, I'm wondering if there is any snow anywhere in the midwest.

From Finland to Duluth, the snow is hard to find. I don't know about the rest of the trail.

It's going to be in the 40's again tomorrow, but they're forecasting a bit of snow and a lot colder the rest of the week. I don't think we'll get enough snow for snowshoeing or pulk pulling.

I'm pretty much due north from Duluth and we've barely got 2 inches of snow in patches around the property. I've got grass poking through all over the place. I can't wait until the bottom falls out of the thermometer and septic systems start to freeze because of no snow pack to speak of for insulation.

Not a good "winter" up here at all.

It's pretty much the same story here. Pretty surreal to have 40 - 50 degree days in January in Iowa. Last winter we broke low temp and snowfall records. This year, no winter at all.

It is 50f in the cities right now for a record high.

On the DNR website it says there is some snow up north but I doubt there is enough to snow shoe. Have fun man!

Woot! Looks like yellow river state forest (where the Iowa hang was) is finally getting a little snow. 4-7 inches by tomorrow night. Lows in the single digits Friday. Looks like I might get to test out the pulk after all.(and my winter burrow and other cold weather gear. Not enough for snowshoeing but you can't have everything.

That's more snow than the SHT will have by this weekend. Forecasting 1-4 inches by Friday, but a lot of today's precip was rain, so it killed what little was already on the ground.
