Not trying to hijack thread but if any of you native Michigan'ers wouldn't mind taking a peek and piping in on some of my questions, it'd be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

a lot of us chatting thus far pretty much know each others skill set and experience. for those that are interested or are thinking it would be nice if you could add your experience level. if we could keep it simple for those updating the list it would help out. so if you could, just add your name and one of the following; if you're a regular to michigan hangs, please also include so others can lean on us if needed.

    screen name, I'm in, noob/couple times/confident

don't fret, for those that think they might get cold at night i'm sure there will be a stoked fire starting at 2am and on ward.

you should be able to handle frozen water, melting snow, enough fuel, how to deal with frozen food, etc.

Not sure what you are exactly asking for...

I'm in, I have winter camping experience mostly on the ground though. I should be OK with the temps, 20° Zeppelin Underquilt, TZ hammock sock, space blanket, pad/ go to ground if it gets bad enough. I was at the 2011 winter hang. I have a OLD coleman white gas stove. I'm not geared for winter backpacking due to the weight if my winter cloths, stove, etc. I can deal with melting snow and the like. Anything I've missed?

Edit: i think this is more what you are after?
packeagle, I'm in, confident in car camp, not backpack.

you got it. most people that are new to winter camping whether car or back country don't realize that normal food will freeze, i.e. cliff bars turn into brick bars. water can be tricky and if you don't have a little water in a pot prior to melting snow can be a problem as well. a lot of people don't realize how cold your feet will get even if you've got decent boots.

being cold will ruin any winter trip so i'm just trying to help out.

SR1355, I'm In, Well Armed... snow yet to be seen....does that work...

Pretty sure there will be no running water or modcons, maybe elec, I'll call up there tomorrow and get the skinny... This will be a full winter car camping trip, plenty of wood for fire will be provided... I don't want to get cold so I will be building the fire right under my hammock...
    Happy Hangin'
