Who can pick me (and my dog) up in Roan Mountain on Friday?
We still have no head count, but I will have a Suburban parked on Hampton creek by Sunday, and can haul all that will fit in there back to Carvers gap. Seats 8 I think.

Damjamman-between you and Wisenber I feel confident I can get a ride back Sunday-thanks to both of you. We're looking at a 10pm-11pm arrival at Carvers for the climb up...please save a couple of trees HA! I say that for others who've never been to the shelter site; it could easily hang 15 hangers without going into the brush. Now finding a spot out of the wind-that's another story altogether.

If you can make it closer to
1:00, I can meet you in town . It's less than an hour of hiking from the parking lot to the shelter. That would put us in camp well before 3:30.

That's a bit over two miles to the trailhead. My main worry on that end would be getting my vehicle sunk in mud. Snow I can handle. Deep mud...not so much.
That's fine with me. Where do we wanna meet?

Bob's Dairyland so I can snarf down a big lunch before we hit the trail!
That and it seems to be somewhat centrally located and is a warm spot to wait.
