Thumbs up Eastern Great Lakes "Gearing up for Winter" - Jan 7, 2012, Valens Conservation Area

Greetings fellow hangers! I know the Holiday season is upon us and while we are busy planning Christmas and New Years parties, or shopping for family and friends I think we should also make a little time to plan the first get together of 2012!

Since its only 4 weeks away I want to make this low key and informal. This will be a one night hang that will allow more seasoned hangers to test gear, allow some other members to try winter hanging and hopefully allow some of us to try out newly acquired Christmas gear.

Location: Valens Conservation area, site 134. (close to the heated washroom)
    Date: Saturday, January 7, 2012

All are welcome! Just post here if you are going to attend so we can confirm numbers. Details to be confirmed the closer we get to the date.

Happy Holidays everyone and bring on the snow!

Planning to be there, my lazy river bridge and reactor 4" karo underquilt needs a real sub zero trial! Think I may change all the rigging out for dynaglide though.

    See you there.

I'm in, I will be on site by 9am. Side note for chard, Ice fishing is the main winter attraction at Valens.

Ok I'm in or well kinda anyway. I am having my wisdom teeth out that week so depending on how I feel that day I may not come.

For the time being though count me and Odd Duck in.

    Thumbs up Let's Hang

Planning on attending. Still can't get Ruth enthused about hanging in sub zero air eating a smokey meal over the fire, while chatting about the latest gear aquisition.
    Sounds like heaven to me....

Rug, just for your information, sites at Valens in winter (or after Thanksgiving) are first come first serve. That is usually not a problem in winter as we are just about the only ones in the park at any given time. Also if memory serves me correct the camping rates for winter drop $5 per site for unserviced sites and there is a max of 6 people per site.

See everyone there. Let's hope for some decently cold temps and a fair amount of snow.

    Cheers

    Brian

The admission fees and per night rates are posted here:

You may be correct, I found the information on that web page but for all we know it might be out-of-date.

    Looking forward!

I hope I can go... not sure of holiday plans yet.. This weekend I've been testing gear in the back yard, getting ready for winter. How cold might it get overnight in early January? -30?
