Talking Door County Overnight Dec 17-18

I'm heading out to Newport State Park in Door County Wisconsin next weekend. I'll be heading up Friday night after work to camp in the parking lot. On Saturday morning I'll be heading in to camp for the night. Anyone interested in coming is welcome to attend. Warning!! I'm still a ground dweller, but working to convert to more intelligent camping!! Haha...

Man the weather looks like it will be decent. Sunny and 26 degrees average after a week of rain and snow. I've never done 26, and my gear is moderate.. sounds interesting. I wish I had an underquilt.. I'll have to check my gear, funny I was just sitting here watching shug video's on winter camping.. I'll get back to you and let you know.

Sounds great, I plan to go up Friday night and camp at parking lot three, as it will be dark. If there is additional people coming I wouldn't mind a little night hiking... Check out Shug's newest video. It was down to zero and one of the guys used only a pad to keep warm.

Four pads!! Dang what kind were they? Those must have taken up a lot of room in his pack!

He pulled a sled (pulk) out there so as to have options. He had a Thermarest prolite, Thermarest regular, Yoga pad (wife's) and a Reflectix pd.
He would have been fine with the two Thermarests in my opinion but he wanted to be sure. I like that he found his own way.

I love pulks!! They allow campers so much flexibility and the opportunity to bring along many things that just would not be possible with only a pack... I had a friend that threw a dutch oven in his and we had some sweet treats out in the bush with that bad boy!!
