I led a small backpacking trip the last two days over Mt. LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. No hammocks were involved, as you have to sleep in shelters. I posted photos in an album (link below) with captions. These are my trip report. Enjoy.
We took the Alum Cave Trail up, then the Boulevard Trail over to the Appalachian Trail, then it down to Newfound Gap.
"At 6593 feet, Mount LeConte is the third highest peak in the Smokies. However, measured from its immediate base to its highest point, Mt. LeConte can be considered the tallest mountain in the Eastern United States, rising 5301 feet from its base near Gatlinburg."
