Your best path is to go up I-75 to Wildwood, then take Highway 44 east to Highway 19 (just past Tavares). Go north up Highway 19 until you see the sign for Buck Lake (8.6 miles north of Altoona).
It's just over a 3 hour drive. There are no lights on the dark brown sign that reads "Buck Lake" so eat plenty of carrots before leaving

Buck Lake Recreation area is off of HWY 19, North of Altoona, Florida. Try typing it into Google Maps for directions from wherever you want to begin from.

Here is a snapshot photo showing it & the left turn off of HWY 19 coming from Altoona. Once off of HWY 19 onto dirt road, drive straight until you see a sign pointing left to Buck Lake. Approx 2.5 - 3 miles in.
300 yds or so from the turn off of HWY 19 is also a Brown Sign for Buck Lake.

hmmmm I have at least one box of Cafe du Monde beignets mix. Can you do anything with that, Gumbo?

I sure hope it's not as cold as it was last year!! It was down to 24 degs. and I couldn't find my socks at night! "Oh, no. I'm going to get frostbite in Florida!!" I thought.

Beignets are a fried not baked. I have a box here too. In some ways it might be easier to make them in the woods. When I make them at home I always manage to spill powdered sugar. If you guys really want beignets for breakfast we can make an assembly line..it works best with three people.

One to prepare the dough and stretch it before frying..one to fry and one to coat them in powdered sugar. So I can make them but it would be easier with a little bit of help.

I'll try to remember to throw an axe and hatchet in the truck.

I wonder if Google has updated the FS road #s. They had the old #s last year which didn't match the signs. The signs used to list both old and new but now just the new.

You know I'll help ya. Didn't know they have a mix. I just pop open a can of biscuits, Roll dough in to ball, fry em up, drain and throw on the sugar. It will be an experience to see the way its supposed to be done.

How is the parking look in that area? Is there more than one lot?
