Just a quick FYI to any other Australians out there considering ordering a Hennessy directly from their on-line store.
I've been the happy owner of a Hennessy Expedition (Which I purchased, brand new, from an eBay seller in the US a few months back) and I now want to 'upgrade' to the lighter Hyperlite model. However, I couldn't seem to find the Hyperlite on eBay so I went directly to Hennessy's own on-line store. Chose the Hyperlite a-Sym Zip Hammock, went to check out, then to my shock discovered Hennessy want USD$60 to ship to Australia!!! I instantly cancelled my order. My eBay bought Expedition 'only' cost USD$39, registered courier delivery!!!
What extra service do I get for USD$60? It's not as if I want it packed lovingly into a gold plated ivory box & hand delivered by the fair maidens of all things Hammockyness.
I subsequently sent the following query to Hennessy via email.
"Dear Hennessy Hammocks,
I was very interested in ordering one of your Hyperlite Hammocks. However, when it came to checkout my cart I notice your shipping costs to Australia are USD$60! That stopped me in my tracks! WOW, Why so much? It makes the Hammock a whole lot less attractive price-wise. Especially when I notice the same Hammock shipped to New Zealand is only USD$20 (A third of the cost!) for what is essentially & geographically, next door. Equally interesting is that Warbonnet will ship to Australia for only USD$35. Any particular reason for that?
Thanks,"
I'll post the reply, when (if) received.
