    Hello from south-west Michigan

    Hi All,

New to hammock camping, although a long-time lightweight camper. Just purchased a WB Blackbird and Mamajamba tarp and took it camping for the past week in the Craig Lake area near Michagamme. While I was there the overnight low was down in the 20's F. I was using a 25 degree poly bag with a themarest between the layers of the DB hammock. I won't say I was toasty, but I will say that I have slept colder in the same bag on the same pad in a tent. As for comfort, well, it was no contest. After 6 nights, I am a convert to hammock camping whenever conditions allow. I sure it will only get better as I tweak the insulation systems.

Welcome from another member that calls Michigan home! (In NY for school currently.) I know they aren't cheap, but underquilts will keep you toasty and are so comfortable. Hope you can get one soon! Happy hanging.

lets go do one in the end of june. there are a few of us doing an over night at pinckney rec on june 2 but i'm thinking the MRT would be kind of cool, we could gather at the sleagle on friday and then hike in on saturday. i don't care as long as there is a swimming hole.
