Tarp: corners, sides, pull-outs, attach points etc.

Sorry if this has been beat to death, but what is the general consensus on grosgrain as the actual attach point for your tarp to a line or stake etc.? I have some nylon webbing I also have polyester grosgrain. If grosgrain is only "adequate" I would rather use webbing but if generally speaking grosgrain is just about as bomb proof as anything else, then I'll go with that, as I'm sure its lighter. Imagine holding a D-ring onto the tarp with grosgrain... thats the plan except instead of a D-ring it will be a continuous loop of Zing-it. Any and all opinions and advice is welcome. Thanks.
    Good luck,

I have the utmost faith in grosgrain. I have grosgrain tabs with Linelocs on them on my 12x10 tarp, and have yet to see any stress points on the grosgrain or the stitching. And I've had that thing in some pretty heavy winds on several occasions.

At least among the DIY crowd I'm not sure there is one. My take is that is personal preference.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Grosgrain is probably stronger than the stitching and surrounding material.

Somewhere over on backpackinglight.com, a gentleman did some testing with 1" grosgrain and reported that it would support his weight, but broke while he was bouncing up and down on it.

it's pretty easy to make a few sample attachment points and do destructive testing with scraps.
