    Pillow puzzle

Has anyone had issues with head/neck support? If so I would like to hear about it and if/how you resolved it.

I have a small, cheap blow up with 1/2" foam pad & slip cover which is decently comfy. I don't need much support but find a little under my neck is nice. I'm very comfy when I first settle in & most times till I fall asleep but I often wake up after several half asleep attempts to readjust due to discomfort/pain. This can happen thru out the night which is frustrating.
The older I get the better I used to be. Superhero status is near.

AHE makes 2 downstuff pillows, a small and large size.. maybe be more conforming than what you got now. Support is good but too much causes pressure

Sorry, after seein' Tendertoes post I realized I was wrong about them being down, seems it's got a synthetic fill. Wanted to clarify.

I had some issues with neck discomfort. Considering the fact that I am a stomach sleeper at home, I needed something under my neck for me to be comfortable while sleeping on my back in the hammock.

I used items I was already carrying (rain shirt, extra clothing, etc.) My issue with that was, I ran into issues when it was colder than I expected (I slept in my extra clothing) and/or it rained (my rain gear was soaked from hiking in it and now was drying on my tarp ridgeline).

Solution - Snoring Cub. Granted, it's not a dual use item; but I'll take 3 oz for a good night's sleep any day. (Slo beat me to it)

I found a fantastic little travel pillow at Bed Bath Beyond for $10. It's advertised as a down alternative, super soft and not too firm so it conforms and supports my neck. I like it better than my Quixote Goose Down Pillow.

I find that I don't need the head angle change nor head wagg support . . .

just something to soften the ridged tautness of the nylon bed of the hammock under tension on the back of my head.

even just the hood of my Sleeping bag is enough.

As a side sleeper only, I need a pillow, even in a hammock. I use an inflatable Montbell pillow, the same one I used in my ground dwelling days.

As a matter of fact, to my surprise, the pillow not only holds my head up, but also keeps the sides of the hammock spread apart so that my face isn't jammed into a wall of nylon (particularly on my Blackbird).

I just bought this jacket. http://www.6pm.com/merrell-fliptherm-jacket
(you WILL look cooler wearing it then the guy in the picture!)
So far it's a great jacket with Primoloft insulation. It also has a pocket for stuffing itself that resembles an airplane pillow lined with micro fleece (the "U" shaped type)...
I got it at Gander Mountain on clearance for $37...originally $130!! Multi-purpose, I think so!

I bought a little dandy @ WM for $3...it's only flaw is the tear stains of third world child labor.

If I were backpacking, I'd make a stuff sack out of cotton, and stuff it full of whatever.
