I was just recently introduced to Snugpak about a month ago. And about four days ago, I got my Merlin 3 bag in the mail. Ooooh, it's naice. (yes, you pronounce that na-ice...) Anyhow, super smooth feeling and it does compact very well. I don't know that I'll be able to give a full review for awhile as timing isn't working out in my favor lately....

    I like mine very much.
For value-for-money only, the BCUK-Wanderinstar system beats my JRB quilts every time.

    Synthetic on AT

I am still thinking of doing some of the AT in GA next week. Would you all recommend synthetic or would you take your BRB Nest? Thanks for your help. Steve

With the amount of rain we've had in N.Georgia, that should be no problem.
I'd take the down Nest. Rain or not. Protect it and you should have no issues.

I too have a merlin 3 snugpak; it compresses to about the size of the average cantaloupe. I never compress mine tho. as uncompressed it's so small. Just wedge it in where it usually fits.

I havent measured up the original sac yet, but I use one of these for the underquilt to carry at the pack. It fits easily with a bit of space to spare:

    Nice forum you have here

I've used the wanderinstar u/blanket with a DD hammock (top entry), March in Yorkshire, and April at Loch Lommond, worked well enough I unzipped my sleeping bag and used it just as a quilt.

I'll be using it with a HH next weekend at Loch Tay, we've had a couple zero degree C nights recently, so should be a decent test, I'll be interested to see how it works with the bottom entry HH, I've been told it works well.

I've also recently ordered a JRB bridge hammock, doesnt look like I'll get it till after Christmas but I'll test the snugpak with it as well.

    G'Day,

How did the snugpak underquilt go with the HH ? Any good or karzi ?

    Chris.

I would use down on top, because its so much more comfortable to sleep under it.
And synthetik below me, because of its superior resistance against humidity.
