In my neck of the woods, when it finally stops raining in the spring, it STOPS! So I like to have my tarp in snakeskins and just pitch it above my hammock ready for instant use. I love the stars and the sunrise. I like having the tarp in an outside pocket of my pack, ready for instant use in case it DOES decide to rain, and to allow it to dry if it does get wet. From now through most of the rest of the summer, about all we get are the afternoon thunderstorms, so it is always ready. My hammock (Clark) lives in its own stuff sack.

I roll them up with the mesh and suspension inside, and keep them in the mesh pockets of my pack.
    I don't bother with a sack anymore.

Hammock (with insulation) is zipped into bugnet so the bottom (fabric) part of the bugnet makes a loose snakeskin enclosing hammock and no-seeum part of bugnet. For sil tarps, I use a sil snakeskin with pockets for suspension ropes and tree-huggers. Cuben tarp is less bulky, so I furl it with bungee nacrabiners and fold it up.

Hammock is stuffed loose in the pack with the quilts in seperate trash bags.

Tarp is folded and stuffed in the outside pocket of the pack.

I've got the same setup. Works great for me. I can fit 2 summer quilts in the bag too, and so I just keep them set up and stuff the whole thing in the bag. Then when it's time to set up, just suspend one end, walk to the other tree and suspend, and you're good to go.

I use a set of snakeskins for my hammock and an other set of snakeskins for my tarp. If bulk was an issue I would just stuff the hammock in my pack and keep the tarp in an outside pocket ready to use.
