NC Uwharries Hang/Tent Camp April 4/12-4/13

I’m planning on a Uwharries camp weekend April 12th-13th. Likely Beach Camp or Birkhead Robbin’s Branch/Hannah’s Creek. I’ll have Lenny and Indy with me so we may tent camp unless I can figure out a good sleep system for them under my hammock. As always anyone is welcome to join. I’ll post a location update as we get closer.

Updating this for location. Planning on Beech camp off of Dutchman’s Creek Trail. Park at Yates and hike in (~2+ miles). Take yellow blaze spur trail south from Yates. Turn left onto Uwharrie Trail South (white blazes) to next intersection with Dutchman’s Creek Trail (yellow blazes) and take right on Dutchman’s Creek Trail going west. Hike along Dutchman’s Creek Trail where you will cross Dutchman’s Creek (main creek) several times in rapid succession. Beech Camp is on the right side after the second main creek crossing. I always forget to check the exact mileage from the trail intersections, but it’s about a 30 min hike from the Dutchman’s Creek Trail intersection with the Uwharrie Trail.

I will likely arrive at Yates around 5pm Friday 4/12 to hike in (work day for me), but feel free to arrive earlier if you want to get to camp in the afternoon. Some may stay both Friday and Saturday or some just for one night. Too far out to predict the weather, but if rain is in the forecast I will post updates as to a Plan B when the dates get closer.

Beech Camp! Plenty of water and loads of great trees for hammocks. Mostly beech trees!

I may be interested, just depends with my side job. I may be out of State that week and returning Friday. If so I could come in Sat but we will see.

Sounds good MooseMan. Someone needs to help me keep that half truth telling mostly tall story generating PG in check. If the weather is decent and still cool in the evenings I’ll be out there Friday and Sat night. Really depends on how the dogs handle it.
