I think that's a great idea. Then you could use the AD90 liner as an actual liner to supplement the rating of an existing quilt and help keep the body funk off; you could use the liner by itself on the warmest nights; or you could use the liner and shell on slightly cooler nights, I'm guessing with a decent weight/volume savings over a traditional 40° or 50° quilt.

Do you find that the fleece snags on rough skin much?

I can’t say that I’ve ever really thought about that issue when using it, which suggests not. I don’t work outside or with my hands, though, so I’m probably pretty light on the whole rough skin thing, anyway.

I just finished up an alpha 90 top quilt. I went with 1.0 calendered hyperD face fabric. I have not tested it in any wind yet, but it's been very comfortable around 50F.

I would like to try a different shell, however. I've been using this quilt indoors, and the calendered 1.0hyperD is a bit noisy.

I like JRB's idea of making a liner and a shell. the alpha is very nice on its own indoors.
