Best way to install a couple grommets in my tarp

Hey guys, I think I know how I'm going to do this but I'm gonna ask anyhow. When I have my tarp over my WB BB XLC - there are two tie outs (actually four) on each side. The one is to pull the right side out and down to make the shelf - the left side is to tie out and pull out and UP... however with the tarp over the hammock it's blocking the line of sight for the left side that I like to pull up - because I am using the winter top cover and it pull the material away from my face AND it opens the screened window. I would like to mark the tarp where the two elastic line ties attach and have them go through a grommet hole.... kapeesh? Should I just get a grommet kit that uses a hammer and carefully cut a slit and assemble the grommet? I really don't think I need to invest in a plier tool for this one job. ANY thoughts = much appreciated - Happy New YearIMG_2365.jpgIMG_2362.jpg[ATThttps://www.hammockforums.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=191892&d=1704259663&th umb=1&stc=1ACH=CONFIG]191892[/ATTACH]IMG_2362.jpg

Could you possibly use clip on pullouts, before you cut anything? I know Dutchware sells them.

Just sew on a webbing or grosgrain tab. Thin tarp fabric and grommets do not play well together.

These are nice but I am looking to put grommets about a foot into the side of the tarp. Not going on the edge. Thanks anyhow - appreciate it

Thanks - y'know this may work... instead of poking a hole and making a grommet that may not work - just sew material with a grommet onto the spot where I was going to do this - THANKS

You could put a small pebble or something in there and tie a slip knot ..

I do that all the time after the grommet pulls out.
Never been a grommet fan. Something about cutting a hole in a woven material, then pulling on it, and expecting it to be strong has always boggled my textile working brain.

It's my own brain limitation I'm sure, but I can't wrap my head around why you need to punch holes in your tarp for your hammock suspension to go through. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the tarp?

Couldn't you just put a mitten hook on your hammock pullout and attach it to a tarp guyline. If you do that, you may find it's easier to use bungee and remove the "keeper tongue" from the mitten clip.
