Voted for the lighter. Main reason I would use Cuben is for weight savings and rapid depletion of the checking account. For a catastrophic failure event the slightly stronger heavier material may not make any difference.

I was researching cuben a while back for making a tarp and a hammock, and remember coming across something that Ron at Mountain Laurel Designs said, see here.
MLD has a lot of experience making SUL gear from cuben, and they've settled on 0.7 oz/sq yd material for their stuff.
The stuff I bought is CT2k.08, weighs 0.65 oz / sq yd. Noticeably heftier and harder to tear than the ~0.5 oz / sq yrd stuff I used before. But the stresses on a hammock are a lot greater than on a tarp, and I was buying for a hammock.

For a tarp I'd go light. For a hammock body I'd go strong.
I didn't vote. I don't have experience with either. I'd go with what you deem suitable after testing and researching. Why trust my opinion when I don't have experience with cuben?

for my GE Hamm. I used the lite stuff, holds my 180 lb OK.The GE has the forces more evenly distributed I believe. for my maybe, coming bridge I choose the heavier as the arcs put a heavier strain on the material, (Ain't that right Grizz?) the difference in wgts is certainly small, but if you are a nut ball like my self (and older to boot) every little bit helps my gimpy ole legs!!@#$%^gnome
