    Adding down to a Quilt

Can someone please explain the steps to transfer down from an old jacket for example to a down quilt? I have this image of down flying everywhere. I think I read about using a vacuum cleaner, is that just for clean up. I'm making a top quilt from a quilt I bought at Pure Down and want to add a little more loft. Thanks for any help.

Use 2’ of 2” or so tubing with a sock on the end. Now just vacuum it up and reverse the flow to blow it out. The vacuum hose will need a bleed hole in line to reduce the suction so the sock will stay in place. You want to be gentle or you’ll end up with all the down inside your vacuum.

I wish I’d known that trick before my garden ended up looking like a poultry slaughterhouse
