I'm getting hungry just reading these latest posts. Here's what I've pulled together: bacon, 2 pork BBQ loins for Wednesday (served on a grilled tortilla garnished with pepper cheese), 3 pounds of sausage for sausage n' peppers w/Don's pasta for Thursday night, the obligatory bacon and a pound of the Highland Grog special blend coffee. Planning on food prep Monday night then blasting off Wednesday morning with an ETA of 8 AM at the trailhead.

In talking to the Ranger again, they were getting slammed with snow and 20 inches or so in the backcountry can be expected. We will have some early reports on conditions by Tuesday. As mentioned in earlier posts, parking will be tight since Hare Road is snowed in...there's also a turnaround just past the GT lot and that is also blocked by snow.

Carpool if you can and Mill Street Pizza in Vanderbilt can be used to stage cars. Note, people have had to block in cars in the GT lot in the past, since we've been the only people back there. Just be aware of the type of car you're blocking in and maybe take a picture...That way, if someone does need to get out, at least we can figure it out before someone walks all the way out and finds that they are blocked in. Please do not park in front on the locked gate. The last 2-3 years we've had the benefit of Hare Rd., but this year is different and it's the most snow we've seen for the Green Timbers Hang since we started 5 years ago.

Post your info on the spreadsheet and looking forward to meeting some new faces and reconnecting with good friends.

    So...
Might there be room at the GT lot for some "creative" parking with optional equipment?

I'm planning on arriving Friday night ~10pm if anyone wants to meet in town and attempt a carpool in, let me know

Since I’m leaving Thursday evening to work Friday and returning Friday evening, I expect the parking lot to be filled. A few years ago we explored parking at Pickerel Lake Rd (plowed to power line) with room for 5 or 6 cars leaving room for plow truck to turn around still if we all park on same side of the road. It’s a tough mile down the powerline to Hare Rd (HILLS!) so that’s going to be my fallback option. Shouldn’t be too bad going in without a pulk. 7833FFF8-A9B5-4689-A14F-78FA36F87BAD.jpg

Anyone coming through Kalamazoo, GR or Lansing I could catch a ride with either Thursday or Friday? Totaled the car this week, so we are short on transportation. Going car shopping Tuesday, but no guarantee that we find something that we like.

Gonna be a long short week waiting for Thursday to arrive....

I'm packed, just need to dry bag the quilts and put everything in back of truck Wednesday night.

Planning on dawn arrival at trailhead Thursday.

Anyone think of anything we still need?

How about more snow? Looks like I'll have a snowy walk through the pines Wednesday morning.

Right now I'm guessing we will have 15-20 showing up for the weekend. I know some people posted earlier about coming but I'm not sure on their status as of this week. If anyone wonders what else to bring, desserts like cookies/brownies etc and other camp snacks like cheese or sausage is always appreciated. Trail picture is from Turkey who went in Sunday with Squirrelbait and Dogger. Big difference from the past two years.

I'm all packed and ready to go and I'll finally be able to use my snow shoes.
