I'm getting hungry just reading these latest posts. Here's what I've pulled together: bacon, 2 pork BBQ loins for Wednesday (served on a grilled tortilla garnished with pepper cheese), 3 pounds of sausage for sausage n' peppers w/Don's pasta for Thursday night, the obligatory bacon and a pound of the Highland Grog special blend coffee. Planning on food prep Monday night then blasting off Wednesday morning with an ETA of 8 AM at the trailhead.
In talking to the Ranger again, they were getting slammed with snow and 20 inches or so in the backcountry can be expected. We will have some early reports on conditions by Tuesday. As mentioned in earlier posts, parking will be tight since Hare Road is snowed in...there's also a turnaround just past the GT lot and that is also blocked by snow.
Carpool if you can and Mill Street Pizza in Vanderbilt can be used to stage cars. Note, people have had to block in cars in the GT lot in the past, since we've been the only people back there. Just be aware of the type of car you're blocking in and maybe take a picture...That way, if someone does need to get out, at least we can figure it out before someone walks all the way out and finds that they are blocked in. Please do not park in front on the locked gate. The last 2-3 years we've had the benefit of Hare Rd., but this year is different and it's the most snow we've seen for the Green Timbers Hang since we started 5 years ago.
Post your info on the spreadsheet and looking forward to meeting some new faces and reconnecting with good friends.
