Rain all night made conditions going out even more difficult. Unless there is a significant fresh snowfall I'm afraid we're into the "forget about it" part of the backcountry bushwhacking season, it least in this neck of the woods. A freeze will make for an icy crust, thaws mean deep, wet slush. Not fun either way.

Valens sounds better & better.

It was great. ConnieB and Jiblets had some great food to share as usual. The tent at night looked good enough to eat. We were in a "walk-in" site. It was a few hundred metres from the car. Nowhere near the lake but that's ok. The park staff was really nice and even dropped off some really good firewood for the stove.

I'm thinking Valens makes the most sense and is central to most folks.

That yurt looks bombproof. How was the deck looking underneath?
That hot tent looks cozy as well. It looks like you're finishing off a roast in the 5th pic!? EGL'rs will be EGL'rs!

Under was fine. Surprised we didn't find a bear cuddled up in there. What worried me was the TONS of ice & snow encircling the Yurt on the deck ... I was very grateful for our ambitions to "worst case" over-engineer the support structure. Paid off!

i'm going to take the easy way and do Valens (Mar 15/16) if anyone is so inclined. Prob be there around 6 with good traffic.

Easy is good.

Will be there noonish friday.
I will return the firewood I came home with in january.

Might want to bring some cleats if anyone is interested in a hike.

Was hoping to make this one and sleep in the hammock again but was reminded we have tickets to Banff Film Festival on Sat afternoon. Have a wonderful time.
