Question Lash-It Soft Shackles - Will this work

Help me out here - 2.2 mm Lash-It has an average breaking strength of 650 lbs. at a 5 times safety rating that would be 130 LBs. With Tac-Blades new and improved soft shackle he says it boosts the breaking stenght to 230% of single line breakage. This should put soft shackles for the Lash-It at 299 lbs for a 5 times safety rating - Meaning anyone that is under say 275 lbs should be able to safely hang with Lash-It Soft Shackles correct?

Theoretically or according to a specific application? Will there never be a sudden load applied to the shackles? Safety ratings on paper are one thing and highly variable situations in real-life applications are another thing. Is there a particular situation you are wondering about?
The game is the best teacher.

I weigh in at a paltry 150 lbs so I am not in the slightest concerned about my safety hanging on these soft shackles. I have a friend though who is 215 lbs and I just wanted to make sure that he would be safe to hang with these soft shackles as he will be borrowing my equipment when we go this winter. I don't forsee any way that the shackles would recieve a shock unless my friend doesn't listen to me and just jumps in the hammock or unless something fell on the hammock but...........

Better safe than sorry - Just wanted to make sure my math wasn't off and that I wasn't overlooking a variable.

    Thanks.

Colorado in the winter sounds like it could be cold. A slip or fall on ice or snow might give you an unexpected shock load.

only with a straight pull. Not as a hammock suspension. At a 30° suspension angle the force on the suspension is 2 times the weight on the hammock.

Interesting. I, just like GreatBigDave, haven't heard that - as math isn't my strong suit any idea what I should use as a search string in google to learn the math on that?
