Tonights Project. Amsteel Daisy Chain Suspension with Soft Shackles

Tonight's project was an amsteel daisy chain suspension with soft shackles. I'm using this with Dutch spider web tree huggers.

The entire suspension comes in at 2.4 ounces!

I will be able to test everything out tomorrow morning. I will take some photos.

How did you make the divisions between the "links" in your chain? Is it just a brummel lock - each side weaving into the other, then a brummel and bury for the last loop with the two ends?

You got it! It's a 12 foot piece of Amsteel folded in half to make about a 6 foot chain. Then it's just locked brummels spaced 3 inches apart down the chain. When you get to the end you bury the ends like a continuous loop.

I got the test everything out this morning and it works wonderfully! I'm very happy with the setup.

Is there any advantage over a 6' piece of Spider Daisy Chain? Is it lighter?

I would thing that this is lighter but I have to look up the spider chain to see it's weight.

So, do you simply slip a diamond knot from the hammock through the link, or what?

I have made a set of these at ten foot length. Been set up on my porch for a couple of months. Using a regular carabiner instead of soft biner. So far so good with no noticible wear. At ten foot (x2) though it was a lot of brummels.
