    Hammock width question

I spent the last week sleeping in a standard width Dutchware netless hammock (~56" width, I believe) and found it quite comfortable if I got the angle of the lay juuuuuust right, but it was a pretty narrow "sweet spot". Logically, it seems a wider hammock would provide a wider sweet spot. Have others found this to be the case? Other than more room, are there other benefits or trade-offs with a wider hammock. I'm sure there bit of a weight penalty, too, but probably not that significant.

54" is the perfect width for me. Wider hammocks just ha e unused material that gets in the way when entering & exiting and blocks my view. And, without elastic hems, the extra material flops in your face.
Size might matter, I am just over 6 feet and just under 200 pounds. Here is my video demonstration.....

I have a Dutch standard, and a Dutch wide. The standard is too narrow for me - like you say, the sweet spot is small. I much prefer the wide, but the wide is a little too wide. Excess fabric, a bit of a wall.

I'll make my own next time, about two-thirds of the way between a standard and a wide.

I find 60” is good for me and I‘m only 5’6” so it varies from person to person.

    Hammock width question

All depends on how tall you are. I'm 6'2" and when i got the regular width chameleon i had to trade it in for the wide version. Dutchware recommends the wide version of the chameleon for anyone over 6', i wouldnt be surprised if thats the case for most of their hammocks.

I'm 6'2" have a wide Chameleon, which I have never measured but I believe is 70" wide and a Dream Hammock Raven that is 64" wide. Both this hammocks are extremely comfortable and not finicky about my lay. Before these hammocks I used a Grand Trunk Skeeter Beater which claims to be 60" wide but I suspect might be something less. When using it, I thought it was comfortable. Now when I occasional use it in my yard for lounging, it feels much less comfortable than my wide Chameleon and Raven. However, it is made from different material, is shorter and a 3 panel design, which all may also contribute to my perceived comfort.

    Hammock width question

I'm right at 6' and about 225 lbs, so it seems the wide might be a better fit.

62-64" seems to be a sweet spot for me. Not too narrow, and not too much extra fabric.
