I have slept a total of four backyard-nights in my HH Expedition: two in a heat wave, just over a week ago; and the last two nights, with lows of 11 °C and 16 °C (52 °F and 61 °F), so I could decide what insulation to take.
It has been fine, but I have not had the miraculous, life-changing experience that many mention upon discovering hammocks. Is it possible that I just don't hate sleeping on the ground as much as you? (In a hotel with a too-soft bed, I usually fold the comforter in thirds and sleep on the floor.)
I haven't been sleeping very well, but I think that has some to do with thinking too much about temperature and position, and also the fact that I have to wake up all the way to _change_ position (which I do a LOT). I'm hoping that enough practice will get me to the point of not thinking about the mere fact of being in a hammock.
I think I have to make an SPE. Has anyone ever put grippy shelf-liner stuff on the bottom to reduce the slipping? Good, bad, or ugly?
Also, am I a total freak for turning the "wrong" way in an asym hammock? I tried it, last night, and it was not at all uncomfortable. I have found that lay angle defines which side I can sleep on, for side-sleeping, and which foot is turned in, for back-sleeping, and I wanted to be able to switch those up, so I just rotated to the other angle. Probably wouldn't work for those with much more vertical than me (I'm 169 cm; 5'6.5").
Thanks for any advice or comments. (except for the part about me being a freak! )
