Anyone else get leg cramps when sleeping in your hammock? I put my backpack under my knees which seemed to help, but I was wondering if there was a better lay position
to combat this pain.

I normally get them as well, but I have started to force myself to stay hydrated especially a few hours before bed. This does tend to cause having to wake up middle of the night but worth it.
Also I have adjusted my diet to eat dates through out day. At least two or more each snack or meal.
Plus with having your knees slightly bent while sleeping also cuts down on cramps.
While having a cramp I have also noticed that you can quickly ingest two yellow mustard packets to loosen the duration of the cramp. I have used it multiple times in the hammock and at home.
The above are just some of things I have done to lessen resting leg cramps. Please note I am not a doctor, but I still hope this helps.

Those are some pretty good home remedies. Maybe I'll pack some dates along with my GORP. Thanks!

I've also experienced this. I'll be trying some of the above remedies and watching the thread for more information. Thanks!
Do you think dehydrated banana chips would have the same effect? I could put those in my GORP too.
when backpacking I have found that bananas don't pack to well.

Sometimes I'm susceptible and at other times I get along fine. I don't seem to follow any kind of preventative measures faithfully. Therefore, it is a matter of bailing ASAP and walking them off when it occurs. But this is true of a bed or ground sleeping too. I have learned to be circumspect of making certain moves, such as tensing up my leg muscles, when my legs are sending subtle "you better watch it" messages.
I associate calf cramps with certain brands of hammocks with integrated bugnets. I always got calf cramps in my Henessy Expedition. Tried a WBBB and got calf cramps too. Then I started using simple, gathered end hammocks and Fronkey bugnets - haven't had a calf cramp since.
I also have a Dutch Chameleon that has never given me a calf cramp.
