    Amok: Any tarp will do?

Just curious; for those of you who own the Amok, do you find "any" tarp will do as long as it is wide enough or would you recommend the Amok specific tarp? Thanks for any feedback!

I think as long as you've got coverage head to toe you're fine. The only thing special about the amok tarp is it's ridgeline is short to match the draumr ridgeline. You can definitely use a bigger tarp np. A 10x10 would feel massive on it

I just acquired an Amok and spent this morning testing setting it up and trying different tarps. I have a bunch of tarps, 10ft X 100”, 11ft X 120” and 12ft X 120”.

The 2, 120” wide tarps “just barely” give enough coverage if rain is coming straight down. Blowing rain is going to be a problem. Plus you have to pitch these wide, so your sides are wide open. Normal doors won’t close.

I plan to build a new tarp to pair with the Amok. I think that an 11 footer will be more then adequate. I’ll be using extra wide material trying to get as close to 140” wide as I can. Then maybe some custom doors for each end.

i've been thinking about some sort of grizz beak style door addition. should only need 1. that being said, I've been in some pretty good wind and rain storms, and never seen a drop of rain on the draumr yet

to be fair, I have been lucky enough to be broadside to the wind direction each time.
